The Anne Arundel Soil Conservation District participates in a variety of programs designed to educate the public in Anne Arundel County and throughout the State of Maryland about the issues facing our natural resources.

The Anne Arundel County Envirothon is a hands-on environmental problem-solving competition for high school-aged students. Participating teams complete training and testing in five natural resource categories: i.e., soils/landuse, aquatic ecology, forestry, wildlife, and current environmental issues. This year’s 5th issue is Western Rangeland Management and Pasture Management.

The winning team from the local Envirothon will advance to the state competition and winners of the state competition will advance to the National Competition which will be held at Idaho State University.

Soil Health Awareness Program – NRCS

The Anne Arundel Soil Conservation District also participates in educational programs and training that keep participants on the cutting edge of new developments in sustainable agricultural, environmental awareness and species biodiversity. MASCD Coloring Contest

The AASCD proudly sponsors an coloring contest in association with the Maryland Association of Soil Conservation Districts (MASCD) each Spring. Elementary schools throughout Anne Arundel are invited to participate in the local coloring contest.
