Attention urban farmers and those interested in urban farming, the Anne Arundel County, Prince Georges County and Baltimore City Extension faculty are starting an urban agriculture working group initiative for the area.

The First Meeting of the Anne Arundel and Prince George’s Urban Farming Work Group will be held on August 24, 2021. We will begin the day by meeting at 10:00 a.m. at the Anne Arundel County Extension Office (directions) for introductions. At 10:20 we will travel to the Gambrills Flower Farm for a tour of the operation. Then reconvene at the Anne Arundel Extension Office for lunch.  From 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. we will form the Anne Arundel and Prince George’s Urban Farming Work Group with our first task of holding a brainstorming session to develop an urban farming initiative.

The work group working with Extension faculty will lead the urban farming initiative, by planning educational workshops to assist urban farmers in topics such as business planning, land access and zoning regulations, IPM, machinery and production technologies for vegetables, fruits, livestock and high value specialty crops.
